Id never seen Sperrys in the city but when I moved to the coast I saw that they were popular and they looked cute and preppy.I bought my first pair in Kids from another site, the intrepid plaid in a 4.5 kids.I normally wear a 7 and 4.5-5 in Kids shoes. When I read the reviews I knew to go with the smaller. When I received that pair they fit perfectly.I pranced around in my new comfy shoes. But my the end of the day that 4.5 felt like a 5 they had stretched so much. So,I wanted another pair but this time I knew to go down another size.I ordered the 4w.First let me say that the W fits just like the M.Dont seem wider to me.But they are tighter in the toe this time so I hope they dont stretch too much because no way can I start out in a 3.5! So,people note that they do run anout a 1/2-full size big.I dont wear socks with mine so do take that into account. It takes some figuring out to do if you are an adult buying a kids shoes. But because I buy most of my shoes in kids,I knew what I should wear.I just went down in size from there.I also bought a pair for my 9 month old and found that the 3 was much larger than her normal size and she cant wear them yet. Now,I love Amazon and their Prime shipping. So I look around here often and can usually find a good deal here and there.BUT there is an issue with these shoes.I noted another buyer stated there was a black mark on her shoe.Well mine too along with some scuffs.I noticed they looked a bit roughed up in the photo but hope it was just the photo. But I should have known that if the photo showed a "shabby chic" shoe, that what you are getting! The condition of these shoes is not what I would expect from a new shoes though they ARE unworn as far as I can tell. But they arent nearly as nice out of the box as the first pair I bought.I got my Sperry's for $35 bucks and that makes me happy but it would be nice to get a shoe that doesnt already look like its been tossed around.Maybe thats why the price is so good?I already have my eye on another pair, the darker leather looking pair.maybe Ill have better luck.I hope so because they cost more.As much as I hate a return, and I try to avoid them at all costs if its not an easy return,I would if I get a second pair like this.In the past, I always giggled at people that wore these shoes with every outfit. I told myself I'd never own a pair, or, it's just a trend that will pass.. Well, my in-laws recently purchased a new lake house and when I found these on Amazon for $27, I honestly bought them as a joke since my husband hates them! So, when they arrived and I put them on I was flabbergasted at how freaking comfortable they were?! Holy crap. And for reference, I'm a nurse and I like to think I've had my fair share of comfortable shoes but seriously, if wear these to work if I could!I will give you some size info to take with you though. I usually wear a women's 6.5-7, and originally ordered these in a big kid 5.5w. They were HUGE. I took a shot in the dark and reordered them in a 4.5w and they fit great! Even roomy enough to wear socks. Other reviewers stated they wore 6.5-7 women's and ordered a big kid 5m, and they were tight, so that's why I went with the w(wide) instead. Usually, kids shoes are more narrow than adult shoes since kids feet haven't spread out over time, and I didn't want to have tight fitting shoes. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and am now looking for a matching pair for my daughter!Additional info: I wear a 7 in Nike, 7.5 in Adidas, 5.5m big kids in Brooks, 7 in Uggs, 7 in Saucony and a 36 in Dansko! Our son is semi-picky when it comes to shoes (he comes by it honestly). It's not due to social pressures of being in kindergarten but rather the "squeezing effect" dress/dress casual shoes have on his feet. When we received the shoe, despite the amazon description and numerous reviews stating it was a slip on, it was clear to see this was a tie lace shoe. GRRRRR! The 13 ended up being too big for his feet in length. The company we ordered from - HAYS INC - was TERRIFIC. Within 5 minutes of reaching out to them, they emailed me a pre-paid label to return/exchange the shoes, due to the slip-on misprint in amazon's description. Since the shoe seemed narrow, my wife called the company before deciding on an exchange. They were polite, patient, and eager to help over the phone. Not having wide widths in stock, we opted to exchange for a 12.5. Using thin socks allows our son to wear the shoes with minimal complaining, from him anyway. His big sisters are definitely envious of the Sperry shoes and complain they didn't get a pair. We were happy we scored a great brand at a great price ($34 total) from HAYS INC.I normally wear a 7.5 in women's (an 8 in tennis shoes) but thought I would try out the kids size due to the price difference. I have a pair of Sperry Top-Sider Bluefish in a women's 7.5. The differences are: the insole is leather in the women's, which is more comfortable, but not sure enough to justify the price. In the kids, the insole is fabric. Also, I found that the kids ran a little wider than the women's size. To me there were plusses and minuses to this. The kids size made my feet look smaller while the women's size looks larger due to them being narrower they look longer. Comfort wise I would say that the women's are a bit more comfortable, but I've worn the kids one's more. The kids are a bit wide on my feet because my feet are a little narrow, but they are still comfortable. Probably because it is fall I've worn the kids pair more since they are the chocolate color, while my women's size one's are the linen/oat color. I really love them so far. They are so cute and comfortable. I find that they go with everything. I will definitely buy another pair in a different color.
